Executive Track at Wimba Connect 2009

Back for a second year, all Directors, CIOs, CTOs, Presidents, Superintendents, VP's and other academic executives are encouraged to participate in our Executive Track, a valuable learning and networking event.

On Monday April 6, 2009, start off by networking with fellow academic executives during a round of golf or poolside at our wine tasting event – followed by CEO Tommaso Trionfi’s keynote speech and our opening reception.

Then, on Tuesday April 7, the track features a 2-hour executive roundtable session led by Carol Vallone, former CEO of WebCT and current Board Member of Wimba. This group learning and brainstorming session will feature three academic leaders. Last year our panelists were Michael Hites, CIO and VP Planning and IT, New Mexico State University, Michael Evans, Director of Academic Technology, Centennial College , and John P. Campbell, Ph.D., Associate Vice President of the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing Information Technology, Purdue University. This year's presenters will be determined soon.

Fact #8 learned at Wimba Connect 2008

Wimba for accessibility. Since adopting Wimba in May 2007, the Neil Squire Society has “greatly increased” its effectiveness in delivering real-time classes to people with disabilities across Canada, and even uses real-time captioning online. “The virtual environment is in many ways more accessible to people with disabilities than a face to face program,” says Chad Leaman of the Society. “We have participants where their disability does not allow them to raise their hand, speak clearly, nod or shake their head. In Wimba, participants can raise their hands, communicate through the chat area, and clearly answer yes or no. In many ways, Wimba is more accessible than a ‘real’ classroom environment.”

Wimba Connect 2008 was a great conference! We learned new and innovative ways of using the Wimba products. It was wonderful to meet fellow Wimba users – a very fun and friendly group. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again at Wimba Connect 2009!
